About Learning Command-line Linux
- What is linux?
- An operating system. MicroSoft Windows, Macintosh OSX are also operating systems.
- Isn't it hard to learn command-line linux?
- Most people that i teach already know a few languages: Tibetan, Hindi, English, and maybe even Chinese! An operating system is just another language, used to talk to computers instead of to people.
- We learn easily when we are young and flexible, and changing our ways when older seems difficult. But learning new things will keep us young and flexible!
- Learning the command line does take some time. Once learned, much time is saved, as you can do things much faster.

- I have copies of the linux CDs — Fedora Core, and Ubuntu. You can run Ubuntu from the CD without installing, to practice without disturbing your computer.
requirements for practical workshops
(not for overviews, or for Sunday Sabjong)
- To enter, you must bring some files you have worked on (every time!)
- Gmail address using two-step authentication, (or other secure email).
- Skype id.

- Tibetan font and keyboard program
- Skype, Notepad++, Firefox w/Firebug
- An anti-virus program.
- You need to know how to use your computer and your operating system.
